Ballet & Tap Combo (preschool: ages 3-5)
This one-hour class offers the basics of dance to the littlest dancer; half of the class is dedicated to ballet, and the other to tap! (must be potty trained)
Dance Basics: The Beginning (Grades K-2)
This class introduces the young, aspiring dancer to the very basics of dance. This includes introduction to ballet and jazz – the fundamentals and basis for all other forms of dance. Some contemporary styles will be introduced such as hip-hop and musical theatre to keep the class interesting and upbeat!
Dance Basics: Intermediate (Grades 3-5)
Building from what was introduced in Dance Basics: The Beginning, this class continues to focus on the primary skills needed for all dancers. This class is especially good for those young actors or other “non dancers” who want to learn the correct terminology, body position placement, coordination, and rhythm.
Dance 4 Actors: Advanced (Grades 3-5)
Students in this class are exposed to the dance element of the classic Broadway musical. Each week, students will learn the basic steps of jazz dance (the genre that is the basis for musical theatre productions). Throughout the semester, students will learn dance combinations using the influences of some of the great Broadway classics. This class is a MUST for any actor interested in musical theatre in middle and high school. This class should be taken for at least two years.
Dance 4 Actors: Advanced (Grades 6-8)
Students in this class are exposed to the dance element of the classic Broadway musical. Each week, students will learn the basic steps of jazz dance (the genre that is the basis for musical theatre productions). Throughout the semester, the student will learn auditioning techniques and practice the dance audition element through many mock auditions. Students will dance to a variety of musical selections and choreographer styles.
Exposure to guest choreographers and dance instructors will enhance the student’s experience by having them work with different styles and personalities. This class is essential for any student pursuing musical theatre in high school. This class is highly recommended for at least two years.
