Stage Acting centers around the basics of stage acting and exposes the student to master instructors who are practicing theatre professionals. Theories, history, theatre terminology, and practice are all covered in this thorough curriculum.
Elementary Performance Class: (K-2; 3-5)
In this semester-based class, students are introduced to basic theatre concepts through theatre games and role-play, audition, rehearsal, and performance. Each student is guaranteed a role. Friends and family will be invited to attend the final performance at the end of the semester. Space is limited.
Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre (Grades 4-8)
This performance class focuses on the art of improvisation! Working with a professional “murder mystery dinner theatre actor, “ students will audition, rehearse, and perform a Murder Mystery script at a local restaurant. Quick thinking, actor observation, timing, memorization, and improvisation are skills that are honed during this fun-filled, mysterious acting class!
Voice Over Acting – Cartoons Anyone? (Grades 4-8)
Led by a professional voice over actress, this class focuses on the art of the voice. Students work on skills such as dialect, cold reading, commercial auditioning, character voices and more! This class is a MUST for any serious actor! Towards the end of the semester, the class will have the opportunity to take a field trip to a real audio production studio and be “vo talent” in their own commercials.
Stage Acting II – Intermediate (ages 7+)
This skills class builds on the skills introduced in the Elementary Performance classes! Includes pantomime, improvisation, stage presence, and more. This class is geared towards serious stage acting students. This is a practical technique class. Students increase skills and knowledge of the stage. Students will be assigned solo and ensemble material, scene work, improv, and blocking; working to develop and incorporate character development into every aspect of their work. This is NOT a performance class. This class is recommended for students interested in pursuing acting in middle and high school.
TCAA Masters – Advanced (ages 8+)
This class challenges the young actor with monologue work, character development, scene work, and more. This school-year long class focuses on skill building in the fall semester, and produces a one-act play in the spring. This class is recommended for students interested in pursuing acting in middle and high school. Once a student reaches this level, they may take this class multiple times. Enrollment and class dynamic will change and continue to challenge the serious youth actor.
